These mixed media fabric collages were created to protect and hold my spiritual power in the form of a shield, therefore they are entitled “Dream Shields.” They were created with a combination of materials such as beads, buttons, ribbons and hand embroidery. All of the oval shield portions are created with various scraps of fabric, threads and Angelina Fiber™ between layers of sheer fabric sewn together with decorative stitches. The newer pieces have additional elements such as digital images, Spirit Dolls and handmade beads filled with my personal thoughts. These pieces are stories about the transition of the journey from California to the East Coast, the desire to lose weight, and personal relationships.
