Keperah

In Egyptian Mythology, Keperah was present at the very beginning of creation.  Keperah was indeed the principal of change in creation. It was through Keperah that Ra in all of his manifestations was created.  Keperah is a dynamic force and it was the first movement that set into motion everything that was created starting with the Egyptian Gods. The scarab beetle seemed to regenerate itself from inert matter.  The beetle is always most active during the hottest part of the day; gathering and rolling its ball of dung around and eventually burying each one with a single fertile egg.  Thus this beetle became the symbol for a God who created himself and everything in existence out of nothing. The worship of the scarab goes back to the Neolithic era from the region now know as the Sudan.  Its image was engraved on talismans that were buried with the deceased and also carried by the living throughout dynastic Egypt.  Its purpose was to invoke the powers of the god to ensure that the bodies of both the living and the dead were protected.

Although there was never any temple specifically dedicate to Keperah in antiquity, we envision a modern day temple for our installation to Keperah that utilizes a variety of natural and synthetic materials.
