Reflections

These abstract textile thread paintings were designed from manipulated digital images of flowers. These digital images serve as the artist’s line drawing. Each section of the drawing are copied and used as patterns for the various fused Batik; Asian and hand dyed fabrics. It is similar to putting together a jigsaw puzzle through the use of fusing fabric shapes to canvas. This colorful surface is machine quilted with many layers of free motion thread scribbles and decorative stitches that dance rhythmically across the surface. Their odd shape represents a pond of water that has ripples from a pebble being thrown across its surface. Rich colorful fabric shapes and layers of thread scribbles symbolize the reflections of the land in the ripples of water.
